"HE HAD TO LIVE..." 30 x 30 cm, acrylic on canvas, 2022
The original is presented at the exhibition.
The picture was painted when I heard about the first destruction of large residential buildings in my hometown of Odessa. The terrible news of the death of a young family and a small child crushed my heart! This painting was made in one breath of grief and protest against Putin's insane war!
"MOWER. UKRAINE" (from the diptych Ukraine. Russia)
Original painting 120 x 80 cm, acrylic on canvas, 2014
The exhibition provided a reproduction with the author's revision
The picture demonstrates the peaceful mood of a guy in a field of wheat (the national symbol of the Ukrainian flag is yellow - wheat and blue - a blue cloudless sky).
The Ukrainian guy is engaged in peaceful work, but in his eyes the flame of his ancestors burns - invincible Scythian warriors.
A sharp scythe can at any moment become a weapon to defend one's country.
The golden Scythian decoration on his chest reminds us of the complex and ancient history of the Ukrainian land.
"LATE SUMMER MELANCHOLY"
Original painting 120 x 80 cm, acrylic on canvas, 2014
The exhibition provides a reproduction with the author's revision.
The antipode of the painting “Mower” was the painting "Late summer melancholy. Or Russia."
A strong man in the royal cap of Monomakh symbolizes Russia. The severity of imperial ambitions does not allow him to look at life easily and joyfully. Behind a gray screen one can see the hands of people suffering from totalitarian power.
I created this triptych for an exhibition in Moscow in 2017, but due to the complicated relations between Ukraine and Russia, participation in the exhibition fell through. In those years, I depicted an ax in the hands of a guy who jokingly cuts mushrooms. But on February 24, 2022, this joke turned into absolute insanity. And now, instead of mushrooms, hundreds of thousands of innocent people are on the chopping block! But somewhere in the distance there is hope for a peaceful future, a clear sky, juicy pear fruits... Someday this gray fabric of inevitability will fall and the sun will clear up.
Who knows what will happen next...
"PAINTER OF HIS OWN DESTINY"
Original painting 100 x 80 cm, acrylic on canvas
The exhibition provided a reproduction with the author's revision
The painting depicts a mature man with a brush in his hands. In his arsenal, cans of paint of different colors. He chooses what colors to depict his future destiny. Everything depends only on his personal fantasy, intentions, lived experience. Of course, there will definitely be obstacles on the path of life, which are figuratively depicted in the picture in black. The universe symbolizes a certain conventionality of reality. The light bulb replaces the sun for us. A paper hat made from newspapers was commonly used to protect hair from dye. But the newspapers are saturated with a mass of controversial information that is trying to master our creation ..
"GARGOYLE"
Original painting 33 x 42 cm, acrylic on paper
The exhibition provided a reproduction with the author's revision
A guy sitting on a gargoyle - a drain in despair. Everywhere continuous streams of dirt and lies. Sometimes it seems that the world has run out of bright colors ..
"ARMY JOKES"

During wars, there is always hope for the future, for life. And in the moments of calm between battles, ruthless soldiers turn into simple boys with their oddities, humor and enthusiasm.
